Meet the All-New Eclipse Sportback EV
Mitsubishi Motors has revealed the first images of the 2027 Eclipse Sportback — the global debut of an all-new, fully electric vehicle headed to North America. Here is what we know so far, straight from Mitsubishi.
A fully electric, zero-tailpipe-emission subcompact SUV — the next step in a Mitsubishi EV journey that reaches back to the 1970s.
Distinct front and rear fascias, unique lighting signatures, sporty alloy wheels, and the brand's iconic Triple Diamond styling set it apart.
Built with Alliance partner Nissan and based on the highly touted next-generation Nissan LEAF, then tailored to be uniquely Mitsubishi.

Sporty Styling, Pure Mitsubishi
The Eclipse Sportback EV wears bodywork that echoes the rest of Mitsubishi's global lineup — this is no rebadge. Mitsubishi gave it its own face, its own light signatures, and its own stance.
- Unique front and rear fascias that differentiate it from its platform-mate
- Distinct front and rear lights with signature Mitsubishi lighting
- Striking, sporty alloy wheel designs
- The iconic Triple Diamond badge front and center

Decades of Electric Know-How
Mitsubishi is not new to electrification. The Eclipse Sportback EV carries forward a story that started long before EVs were mainstream — and revives the storied Eclipse name, which first arrived in North America back in 1990.
- Began developing fully electric vehicles in Japan in the 1970s
- The i-MiEV was the world's first mass-produced EV, reaching North America in 2011
- The Outlander PHEV was the world's first plug-in hybrid SUV
- Part of Mitsubishi's Momentum 2030 plan to grow and electrify the lineup
